Beautiful things!! Beautiful People

Sunday, November 17, 2013

If you know me, you know nothing makes me happier than to discover an old piece of ironstone, cream ware, or brown transfer ware while I am out junkin around. Chippy, stained, cracked, discolored or dirty, its all beautiful to me. The best part to me is the awesome markings on the back side. I have not idea what any of the markings mean but I love the markings. If I thought it would not look funny, I would hang or display some of my pieces hanging with the backside showing.

You gotta love this!
Cracked and chipped , but love the marking on bottom.
Love my platters and tureens!!

Brown transfer ware...

thanks to this blogger, this picture made me smile. Speaking of smiling and beautiful thing, I have a couple of beautiful friends.
My best of the best girlfriends came to visit me during the October flea market. Neither one had ever been to the show, so they were so sweet to come and support me and wares. As usual they are the perfect out of town guest and they know what I love. They brought me  a beautiful brown transfer ware platter ( it has two things going for it, it's an ironstone platter and it was brown tranfer . But that was not all, I also received 4 adorable brown transfer ware saucers, all the way from England. But wait that was not the end, a vintage silver plate tea pot tied everything together. Have I mentioned that " I loved this bag of goodies" I'll say it again beautiful things from beautiful people.
Thanks Sue and Carol, I love ya to death!! (do we part) Ha!

Displaying my goodies...

Look at the border on this platter.
Fabulous!!

adorable saucers...Will have to display them so everyone can see.

The platter, saucers and teapot look so good together.

Lots of people and lots of great customers. October is the big extravaganza, so were are already working hard to fill our booth. We   are going to be so busy getting everything ready. I am so excited about the fact that I have two of my girlfriends from Atlanta coming over to visit the flea in October. Hope I don't disappoint! I'll try my best. Just an update!

Just an update on what I've been up to. Selling at the flea market is just one part of Simply Painted.
Custom paint jobs are always welcomed. This week a sweet couple whom I've painted things for before purchased an old painted buffet on legs. They purchased it because they wanted a unique wine rack for their newly remodeled historical home. So they cut the legs off to make buffet lower to ground and had me take doors off. After I paint it and delivered it back to them ,
they are going to add a wine rack divider where the doors were. Great idea!!Thanks, Katie and Hollis
Enjoy pics!
Before, It was a neat paint job, but not what Katie and Hollis needed.

Layers of paint!!

Ready to go!

Neat details...

Just about ready!!

Finished and delivered!
Hope they send pics when they get wine dividers in..

August Flea Market

August flea Market is in the history books! Yeah, Had a great show thanks to all my customers. Looking forward to September. Enjoy pics.

FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS!

Saturday, August 3, 2013

.

Where does the time go? It's already the 8 month of the year 2013. Seems like just yesterday it was August 4, 1973.

today August 4, 2013, Ron and I are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Forty years.
Some great, some good, some successful, some not so, some exciting, some boring, some sad.
Ron and I have been together since high school.

He is my wing-man. Wing-guy? Wing-partner? Whatever. He is my words of wisdom. The guy that snaps me back to reality when I am thinking crazy. ( and I do that a lot) We dream. We plan. We plot. We work out the details. He is my best friend.  And I could not have done anything ( including raising two beautiful daughters) without him.

Kelli and Kristin

And here is why
He works a bazillions hours (at a real paying job) then I have him  hunting down vintage goods,(for my junk business) dragging them home, cleaning them up, repairing them, building new pieces, then doing it over AND OVER AGAIN.
I'd like to say I look forward to forty more years, but since that's not possible we will enjoy every day as if we were newly weds...(looking forward to year 2023)!
I love you! Dad

Have a safe and fun fourth of July!

Grey is still going strong!

Everywhere you look you see some form of gray color.  It's everywhere. I always say I am going to do something different but I always go back to my neutrals. I can't imagine this dresser any other color. It turned out great. Enjoy!

Breathe....

Sunday, June 23, 2013

I must admit I  always breathe a  big sigh of relief when a flea market show is over, but this month it was bigger than normal. Summer is here and although the weather was beautiful it was warm. The crowd was some what lite on Friday, but a good showing on Saturday made up for it. I worked really hard this month trying to stay ahead of the trends and think outside the box. Custom orders were filled, farm tables were built, but good junk has been few and far between. Anyhow we made it, we showed it , we sold it, and made lots of friends along the way. We paid  a little tribute to the fourth of July that is coming up and loved every minute of the weekend. So take a breath and enjoy the pictures of what we had to offer.
