The crafter in me keeps coming out...Love it!!

Saturday, November 17, 2012

I think I really have a sickness. Creating things. I love putting things together and having people think I am so creative. Do I have a problem? Is there a place for people like me? Always buying magazines, going through them one, two , three, maybe 20 times checking out every page as though I have never opened it before. I go all the major craft stores, from front to back , from side to side, checking out every new thing. Recently I was in Old Time Pottery and I spotted a great deal. 12 inch, really cheaply made, fake pine holiday wreaths. They had them on sale for 1.00 ea. What could I do with these ugly little wreaths. So, I purchased a couple, brought them home and decide they would be a great form for a fresh holly wreath. So I went to my over grown holly bush, cut some branches and started creating. Here's how it went.
12 inch, really cheap, fake pine Christmas wreath

Holly branches from over grown bush.

Ribbon, berries , pine cones, and miniature tree ornament

No fuss, no glue, just stick branches in wreath and twist fake
branches around fresh branches.( you know what I mean?)

Finished product. Add ribbon, glue in mini tree or any ornament. Add
pine cones.

Love it. Just right for hanging on cabinet door.

My very, very, very (that's a triple very)favorite thing to do (besides visiting with my girls) is junking on a highway garage sale. So many families getting rid of junk. Trash to them, treasures to me. We traveled down highway 7 just out of Nashville. Shopping the Old Tennessee Trail yard sale. It was amazing. It is an eighty four mile loop in the most beautiful country side of Tennessee. The fall colors were just coming in. It is where all the Nashville stars call home. Although we do not know where any of them  live, we always wonder. Passing by a huge estates,  I always says"wonder who lives there? Ron always reply " some country singer I guess." Anyhow we found some neat things to share with you at the October Flea Market. (Oct.26,27,28) The one thing that I found that I got so excited about was gray pumpkin's. Just my style. Perfect gray pumpkin's. Enjoy my junk

two ironstone vases, an ironstone Turin, ironstone platter, a black mirrored sconce, 3 silver candle holders, a hugh gold mirror and a lantern.

pewter ware...$5.00 for all!!

This is a dresser that I painted.
This was a 6ft coffee table, (who has room for a 6ft coffee table) It made a perfect bench. add a slip cover and off to the flea it goes.

More pictures to come. I found lots more junk...

Pecan Pie Bars
Ingredients:
1 can of refrigerated crescent rolls
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup (dark or light, doesn't matter)
1 Tbsp butter, melted
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg, beaten

Unroll dough and separate into 2 long rectangles; place in an ungreased 13x9" pan and press along the bottom and 1/2" up the sides, pressing the perforations firmly to seal. Bake for 8 minutes in a 350-degree oven.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the pecans, sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla and egg. Pour over crust and bake 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool completely before cutting, and store at room temperature.

Fall is in the air. WHERE? Just kidding. I do feel it alittle. Must be something in the air because I have been feeling "oh, hum" no inspiration at all.
So I decided I would take a trip to Atlanta to try to get my ump back!
Sue and Carol were just the pick me up I needed.
Since I left Atlanta 18 months ago, there has been at least two great deal malls open up.
Woodstock Market and Treasure Hunt. Both malls are great.
We also visited and shopped at Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta, Ga.( love this shop) and Classey Flea in Marietta.
We had a wonderful time. Sue made dinner, we ate. Carol brought a great dessert, we ate. We talked, laughed and ate again!!
I love, love visiting with them. We always have a great time when we get together. Thanks Sue and Carol for being such good friends.
